Originally established in the UK in 1996 as Magus International the company quickly recognised the benefits of a ‘near-shore’ development facility and a fully owned Malta centre was started in 1998. It has proved a successful antidote to off-shore barriers such as travel time, culture and language differences. It also gave the company access to a highly skilled and stable workforce with lower overheads than mainland Europe. The Malta centre now has over 180 staff.

In 2000 the company was renamed Crimsonwing.

In 2004 Crimsonwing was awarded ISO certification, were appointed exclusive distributor for all Intershop products and services in the UK and Ireland and became a Microsoft Business Solutions Partner for Microsoft Dynamics AX. In the same year Crimsonwing BV was established to serve clients in Holland.

In 2007 Crimsonwing achieved Microsoft Gold Partner status. Later that year the company made two acquisitions to ensure that it could fully exploit the success of the Microsoft’s Dynamics range of ERP and CRM solutions. The first of these was the enterprise business unit of Peracto Ltd, also a Microsoft Gold Partner. This gave us a leading portfolio of business solutions for the Printing and Publishing Industry. The second acquisition was a controlling interest in Promentum Group, a Netherlands based provider of Microsoft Dynamics services and training to Microsoft and the Microsoft business partner channel. This year also saw the creation of Crimsonwing plc, a Malta registered company established in preparation for a public offering.

In January 2008 Crimsonwing plc was listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. In June the company acquired a second Dutch company – VDA – with a strong presence in the media and broadcasting sector in Holland and which strengthens Crimsonwing’s ERP and custom development portfolio.
